LBL12 Day 2

Woke up with a familiar feeling from last year – hungry and cold. Even though we had chicken last night, of course we had to ration it for 5 meals x 2 people so I had the wing for last nights dinner.

Breakfast was usual sweet potato, morning tea was apple. Both tasted pretty good since my stomach felt pretty empty beforehand. Each meal provides some temporary relief until I start thinking about the next meal. It was a little harder to focus at college today. Our lecturer got a free snickers bar wrapper and was giving it away, the guy next to me ended up getting it. I was staring at the wrapper for a few moments wishing to have it…although, I think I have it much better than Chris. He is the sweet tooth in the family. At least I have sweet potato.

I rushed home for lunch, didn’t have time to prepare it yesterday. Chris prepared the Chicken for lunch. So happy to see two whole drumsticks! I was thinking I’d save the second one for another meal but I was so hungry I just ate it.

Two whole drumsticks!!

We ran some errands today and I noticed I just felt tireder faster. I think I’ll give the gym a miss this week…!

Some thoughts:

  • It’s not like I had much on today – college lectures and then go home to do mainly administrative work. So sleepy and tired. Good thing I have no assignments due this week. I can’t imagine what it would be like to feel hungry all the time but still having to do labourious work!
  • Last night I heard something I hardly hear…Chris’s stomach grumbling…it must be hard for those in extreme poverty not only to experience hunger themselves, but see their loved ones hungry and not being able to do much about it 😦

The great news is that nationally, $1M has already been given so the LBL people have been able to add a second project for their cause in PNG. They are working with the Baptist church there which is great. Here’s a video if you’re interested in more info

Thanks for the two people that messaged me today to see how I was going your thoughts/encouragement helped! Those who’ve donated thank you very much as well. I’m still a little way off on my target – please consider contributing for this cause, otherwise thanks for reading guys 🙂
