Helpful Resources – Studies for Christian women and girls

The next group of helpful resources are Bible Studies. These need a bit more preparation and probably best to do with a few people together discussing the issues. I did one of these in my uni days which really set up me up with the biblical basis for my identity as a Christian woman. I’ve always found it worthwile to spend a good amount of time in the Bible studying this and seeing the verses for myself (as opposed to reading books, which are also good). Here are three from 3 different countries that seem pretty good to me:

Woman of God (Matthias Media – AUS)

This was the first one I did back in the day, and it still seems pretty good to me, having done it with others before. Tracing through Creation, Fall, God as Father (Ruth), God as Comforter, Singleness/Marriage, Church as bride, roles within the body of Christ…

8 studies, this one requires quite a bit of pre-work. You’d have to pretty much do the study beforehand and come to just discuss. Otherwise, the study could go for 2+ hours!

Biblical Womanhood (GoodBook – UK)

This one covers similar material to the above, but seems considerably shorter. 9 studies, but you could probably cover it in one hour if you tried. This also has a decent leaders guide at the back (which the first one doesn’t), so it’d be easier to prepare for those leading it.

They also have a good study guide called Women of Faith which goes through different women in the O.T: Eve, Sarah, Rahab, Deborah, Hannah, Abigail, The Shunammite, Proverbs 31 wife which would be worth studying as well. The O.T actually does have a bit to say about the women!

True Woman 101 (US):

Mary Kassian and Nancy Leigh DeMoss have this one which looks good. They have a pretty extensive online guide for leaders and extra material as well, at Has anyone tried this? I’d like to know what you think.

Although books are great, it’s good to actually look at the Bible itself to learn what it means to be a Christian woman as well as leading through younger women in your church as part of our responsibility to train and nurture them in their faith.

P.S. If you’ve done another set of studies which you’d like to share please let me know in the comments below!
